Symptom(s):
- Need to know how the SCSI ID's are set on the backplane.
Solution:
The SCSI backplane device SCSI ID is dependant on whether it is configured as a primary or a secondary backplane. This configuration is defined by the logic of pin 1 on the SCSI backplane's I2C connector. The logic of pin 1 is determined by which baseboard hot swap backplane I2C connector (primary or secondary) the hot swap backplane is connected to. The SCSI backplane devices are assigned different SCSI IDs as follows:
Device SCSI ID as Primary Backplane I2C connector
Drive 1 0x0H
Drive 2 0x1H
Drive 3 0x2H
Drive 4 0x3H
Drive 5 0x4H
SAF-TE card 0x6H
Device SCSI ID as Secondary Backplane I2C connector
Drive 1 0x8H
Drive 2 0x9H
Drive 3 0xAH
Drive 4 0xBH
Drive 5 0xCH
SAF-TE card 0x5H
