SATA Port Numbers Do Not Match

SATA port numbers shown in the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) option ROM and software do not match the port numbers in the BIOS and on the desktop board. Example: a drive shown as connected to Port 2 in the software, is shown as connected to Port 4 in the BIOS.

Note When replacing a failed drive in a RAID array, use the drive number shown in the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology software. Do not replace a failed drive according to the board silkscreen markings.

Use the table to map the port number shown in the option ROM and software to the port shown in BIOS and on the board.

1 When RAID is enabled, you cannot check which port a drive is connected to in the BIOS. The BIOS shows the individual SATA ports, but all appear as not connected, even if there are drives connected. You can only check it from the option ROM, the software, or the board silkscreen markings.
