The Intel® Desktop Board D5400XS is a ground-breaking Intel® Dual Socket Extreme Desktop Platform. This Extreme Desktop board supports the following processors:
- One or two 45nm Intel® Core™2 Extreme processors QX9775 in an LGA771 socket with a 1600 MHz system bus
- One or two 45nm & 65nm Intel® Xeon® processors in an LGA771 socket with a 1600, 1333, or 1066 MHz system bus
The sockets on this desktop board are LGA771, however the processor thermal solutions required must be designed for the LGA775 layout. LGA771 processor thermal solutions are not compatible with this board.
No processor thermal solution is provided with the Intel® Core™2 Extreme processors QX9775. It is the responsibility of the customer to acquire appropriate processor thermal solutions to handle 150 watts Thermal Design Power (TDP). For more information regarding the TDP, refer to the Intel® Core™2 Extreme processors QX9775 datasheet.
The processor thermal solution provided with the Boxed 45nm & 65nm Intel® Xeon® processors in an LGA771 socket are not supported on this desktop board. It is the responsibility of the customer to acquire appropriate processor thermal solutions to handle the Intel® Xeon® processors Thermal Design Power (TDP). For more information regarding the TDP for Intel® Xeon® processors, refer to the appropriate datasheet.
It is the responsibility of the PC integrator or customer to ensure that the processor thermal solutions used in systems with this desktop board will properly cool the processors. Refer to the processor datasheet for thermal specifications. Refer to the Thermal Solution Source List for Intel® Desktop Board D5400XS for a list of thermal solutions which the hardware vendor has advertised as being designed to support LGA771 compatible processors when used in the Intel® Desktop Board D5400XS with LGA775 layout.
