Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I download Intel® Integrator Assistant?
The Intel® Integrator Assistant software is available for download at Intel's Download Center.

Which Intel® desktop boards support the Intel® Integrator Assistant?
Intel® Integrator Assistant supports Intel® desktop boards based on an Intel® 945 or higher chipset and an Intel® Series-3 or higher chipset family.

How do I run the program?
To launch the Intel® Integrator Assistant after downloading:

  1. Go to the folder where you downloaded the file.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file to unzip its contents.
  3. Double-click the file named iassist.exe to start the program.

You can also unzip the contents of the download directly onto a USB thumbdrive in order to run this program on other Intel® Desktop Board systems.

What can I do with the Intel® Integrator Assistant?
The Integrator Assistant allows you to do the following:

  • Apply custom BIOS settings directly from within Windows*.
  • Make sensitive BIOS settings tamper-resistant (via the lock/hide feature).
  • Set SMBIOS information for individual system identification.
  • Promote integrator's brand with a custom splash image and by co-branding with Intel.
  • Promote integrator's brand by adding Windows branding to “My Computer” properties dialog.

For complete information on these and other features, refer to the Assistant software's Help Topics (F1 function key).

What type of image files may I use for a customized logo (splash screen)?
Acceptable file types include:

  • .jpg files - For BIOSes that accept .jpg files, images up to 1024x768 are supported. The display resolutions are limited to 1024x768, 800x600, and 640x480. If the image size doesn't match the display resolution, the BIOS centers the image. Also note that progressive JPG files are not supported.
  • .bmp files - For BIOSes that accept .bmp files, the display resolutions is limited to 800x600. Only .bmp files with 8 or 24 bits per pixel are supported (not 1, 4, 16, or 32 bits per pixel).

File size of the image that can be installed is limited by free space available in the BIOS. If an image does not fit, try saving the file with a higher level of compression or a lower resolution.

It is recommended to start with .JPG files for Splash images. If you have tried using one format of graphics file and it failed to load, try using the other format type.

How do I customize my PC's bootup logo (splash screen)?
Follow these steps to customize your PC's logo:

  1. Download the latest BIOS update file for your desktop board from Intel's Download Center. Be sure to select the .BIO file option (for example: MQ965P.BIO).
  2. Launch Intel® Integrator Assistant.
  3. Go to the "Update System BIOS and BIOS Image" screen.
  4. In the "Get Local BIO File" field, browse and select the .BIO file you downloaded.
  5. In the "Add BIOS Splash Image" field, browse and select the image file you want to use.
  6. Select your desired Intel Logo placement.
  7. Click the Apply button.
  8. At the confirmation prompt (with a warning that the system is about to reboot), click OK. The system will now reboot and run the BIOS update to install the custom logo.

How do I restore the original Intel logo?

If you have loaded a customized logo and wish to revert to the original Intel logo image, follow these steps:

  1. Create a bootable disk containing the original unaltered .BIO file and IFLASH.EXE.
  2. Insert the disk into the floppy drive of the target system.
  3. Turn on the system and wait until the prompt is displayed.
  4. Type Iflash /md /pf <BIO File Name> and press Enter. Wait for the BIOS update process to occur.

Restoring original BIOS settings

Once you have customized BIOS settings with IIA, those settings are considered to be the factory defaults. To change all customized BIOS settings back to the 'real' original settings:

  1. Launch Intel® Integrator Assistant.
  2. Go to the Configure BIOS Settings screen.
  3. Click the Factory Defaults button.
Note Use the Factory Defaults button to reset ALL settings back to factory default. This button does NOT reset any Asset Management settings, Customized Branding settings, and BIOS updates or any custom BIOS splash images that have been downloaded.

Troubleshooting

Error: This motherboard is not supported by Intel® Integrator Assistant
We are currently investigating a compatibility issue between Intel® Integrator Assistant (IIA) and newer versions of Intel® Desktop Utilities (IDU).IIA must be installed before IDU. For now, if you wish to upgrade the version of IIA that you are using, follow this process:

  1. Uninstall IDU.
  2. Install the newer version of IIA.
  3. Reinstall IDU.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Integrator Assistant Fails to Start

  2. Go to the Appearance tab.
  3. Change the Color Scheme to something other than silver.
  4. Click OK.

System Has Older BIOS Version
If you run Integrator Assistant on a system with an older BIOS version, you'll see this information box when you open the application:

  • The BIOS detected on this system must be updated before Intel® Integrator Assistant can accurately display all BIOS settings. Please upgrade to the latest BIOS, and then return to the Configure BIOS Settings section.

Wrong Configurable Features Appear
If your desktop board has an older BIOS version installed, you may see the option to customize certain features that are not actually present on your board (for example: Parallel Port, IEEE-1394).

Update to the latest BIOS version for your board to resolve this problem.

No Options for Hard Disk Pre-Delay
If your desktop board has an older BIOS version installed, you may see no options in Intel® Integrator Assistant for setting Hard Disk Pre-Delay. The only choice in the drop-down box may be zero.

Update to the latest BIOS version for your board to resolve this problem.

Incorrect Boot Order for Boot Devices
If your desktop board has an older BIOS version installed, boot devices that are disabled may not be correctly reflected in Integrator Assistant.

Update to the latest BIOS version for your board to resolve this problem.
