All versions of the Intel® Desktop Board D850GB can support an Pentium® 4 processor at 2.0 or 1.9 GHz in the 423-pin FC-PGA package. However BIOS version P14 or better should be present in the Intel Desktop Board D850GB before installing an Intel Pentium 4 processor at 2.0 or 1.9 GHz. Some previous versions of the BIOS will not recognize the processor and fail to boot.
An Intel® Desktop Board D850GB with BIOS version P12 or P13 installed will start with Intel Pentium 4 processors at 2.0 or 1.9GHz. However, BIOS version P14 or better must be installed for proper functionality:
If you have purchased desktop boards with BIOS P10 or earlier factory installed, and no Intel Pentium 4 processor at 1.8GHz or slower is available, then you must update the BIOS to version P14 in recovery mode.
