Intel® Desktop Board D850GB
Sound playing too fast? Sound not playing clearly?

The Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility installs to the target system the Windows* INF files that outline to the operating system how the chipset components will be configured. This is needed for the proper functioning of the following features: Core PCI and ISAPNP Services, AGP Support, IDE/ATA33/ATA66 Storage Support, USB Support, Identification of Intel® Chipset Components in Device Manager.

These instructions should resolve the issue:

  1. Format the hard drive & install the operating system. (Be sure to backup any files that you do not want to loose).

  2. Install the INF Chipset Drivers.

IMPORTANT!! The INF Chipset Drivers must be installed before installing any drivers. If you load any drivers (especially graphics drivers) before the INF chipset drivers, it is recommended to format the hard drive & reinstall the operating system again.

  3. Install the latest Windows* 2000 service pack or the latest Windows 98 second edition patches available from Microsoft*.

  4. Install the latest version of Microsoft DirectX* available from Microsoft*. (Recommend revision 8.0 or higher).

  5. Continue loading drivers for components in the system. Recommend installing the video adapter drivers before any other components.
If you are using the on-board audio, follow these additional steps.
  1. Install the SoundMAX* drivers provided in the Express Installer driver installation CD.
  2. If issue persists; download the latest ADI 1885 SoundMAX audio drivers.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Avoid moving a hard drive from one system to another, as hardware component differences may cause device conflicts. If you move a hard drive or replace the desktop board - it is recommended that the operating system be reloaded.
