Intel has discovered a temperature sensor reading abnormality that is exhibited on recent revisions of the Intel® Desktop Board D850GB. This issue may cause Intel® Active Monitor to report inaccurate Zone 1 temperature sensor readings.
One of the features built into the Intel® Desktop Board D850GB is the ability to control fans, including the chassis fan. Based on temperature readings within the chassis, the Intel® Desktop Board D850GB will adjust fan speeds accordingly. However, within a small number of boards, the zone 1 temperature maybe misreported, causing the chassis fan to operate at full speed.
Install BIOS P18 or better to resolve this issue, and allow the fan to operate at the appropriate speed.
