Tested memory Memory testing has been performed under the following category:
Advanced tested memory* Intel supplies the advanced environmental test procedures, test software and necessary hardware to an independent test lab to do advanced testing as requested by the memory vendors. Memory is tested by Computer Memory Test Labs* (CMTL).
System memory features The Intel® Desktop Board D845EBG2 has two DIMM sockets and support the following memory features:
- 2.5V (only) 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
- Unbuffered, unregistered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs
- Maximum total system memory: 2 GB; minimum total system memory: 64 MB
- 200/266 MHz DDR SDRAM DIMMs only
- Serial Presence Detect (SPD)
- Suspend to RAM
- Non-ECC and ECC DIMMs
| Note |
Remove the AGP video card before installing or upgrading memory to avoid interference with the memory retention mechanism.
| Note |
The Intel Desktop Board D845EBG2 supports DIMMs based on 512 Mbit technology for a maximum onboard capacity of up to 2 GB. But, this technology is not validated on this board. See the latest lists of tested memory.
| Note |
To be fully compliant with all applicable DDR SDRAM memory specifications, the desktop board is populated with DIMMs supporting the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This structure allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance. If non-SPD memory is installed, the BIOS tries to correctly configure the memory settings. But, performance and reliability can be impacted or the DIMMs might not function under the determined frequency.
| Note |
For ECC functionality, all installed DIMMs must be ECC. | | The following table lists the supported DIMM configurations.

1In this column, "DS" stands for double-sided memory modules (DDR SDRAM devices on both sides) and "SS" represents single-sided memory modules (DDR SDRAM devices on only one side). 2If the number of DDR SDRAM devices is greater than nine, the DIMM is double-sided.
