End of Interactive Support
Intel is announcing the end of interactive support for the Intel® BL440ZX Motherboard. See the End of Interactive Support Announcement for details.

Processors supported
The Intel® BL440ZX Motherboard supports the Intel® Celeron® processor for the 370-pin PGA socket. See processors supported for additional information.

Processor heatsink
Caution: System cooling requirements vary depending on the particular system configuration, and it is the responsibility of the system designer/integrator to ensure that the system's maximum case temperature (at thermal plate) is not exceeded. For more details on the thermal considerations, refer to the Intel BL440ZX Motherboard Technical Product Specification.

System memory
The Intel® BL440ZX Motherboard supports dynamic memory detection for one or two 3.3V 168-pin unbuffered SDRAM DIMMs. System memory combinations of up to 128 MB are supported using 64 Mbit technology devices. See the tested memory list.

Power supply requirements
The Intel® BL440ZX Motherboard requires a 3.3 volt power supply that complies with the NLX 1.2 specification . For Wake On LAN* (WOL) technology capability, the Intel BL440ZX Motherboard also requires a soft-off power supply that has at least 720mA of +5 volt standby current to keep the remote WOL circuit alive.

NLX connections and riser
There is no power connector on the Intel BL440ZX Motherboard. Power, I/O slots, and data connections all reside on an NLX 1.2 compliant riser card, which is required to power the motherboard. Risers may be vendor specific to a chassis style or sold by third party vendors. See the NLX website for vendor lists.

NLX chassis considerations
The Intel BL440ZX Motherboard is a NLX Platform and requires a chassis that is compliant with the NLX 1.2 specification. There are no Power supply, I/O slots or data connectors on the Intel BL440ZX Motherboard. These connectors reside on an NLX 1.2 compliant riser card. See the NLX website for vendor information.

Second floppy drive
The Intel BL440ZX Motherboard uses an SMC FDC37M807 I/O component to support the floppy disk controller. This component, and equivalent components, only support a single standard legacy type floppy disk drive (FDD), a 2.88MB Super I/O type FDD, or a three mode type FDD.

AGP add-in cards not supported
The Intel® BL440ZX Motherboard does not support add-in AGP video cards.

Intel® 440ZX Chipset information
Information on the Intel® 440ZX Chipset can be found starting at the Intel chipsets home page.

Will my ATA-66 hard drive work on the Intel® BL440ZX Motherboard?
The IDE controller integrated into the Intel BL440ZX Motherboard supports Ultra DMA modes 0,1, and 2. Ultra DMA mode 2, also known as ATA-33 or Ultra DMA 33, is the highest speed transfer mode supported by the Intel BL440ZX Motherboard. The motherboard hardware cannot support the maximum transfer rate of the ATA-66 drives. A drive that complies with the ATA-66 specification will run timings up to Ultra ATA-33 on the Intel BL440ZX Motherboard. Please refer to the Technical Product Specification and the Motherboard Specification Update for more complete details on the various transfer modes.
