Latest BIOS and drivers
There are two different BIOS versions used for Intel® LM440LX Motherboard. To successfully update your BIOS, the BIOS identifier (86A or 86C) must match your current BIOS. The current BIOS versions and the latest drivers for the Intel LM440LX Motherboard on-board audio, graphics and LAN can be found on the Software & Drivers page.
Contact your system provider for any bus mastering drivers specific to your configuration. Additional Intel® Bus Master IDE information can be found on the developer.intel.com site.
Processors Supported
The Intel LM440LX Motherboard with BIOS version 86A supports Pentium II processors at 233, 266, 300, or 333 MHz and Intel® Celeron® processors at 266 and 300 MHz. See the processors supported document. The Intel LM440LX Motherboard with BIOS version 86C does not support the 333 MHz Pentium II processor or Celeron processors.
Configuration Jumper
A single jumper enables the Intel LM440LX Motherboard's configuration mode. All options, including processor speed selection, are then available through the BIOS setup screens, which are documented in the Technical Product Specification.
1-3-3-1 Beep Code
A 1-3-3-1 beep code and failure of your system to boot indicates a problem with the DIMM memory being used. See the Frequently Asked Questions on developer.intel.com and try using memory listed on the tested memory list.
Will my ATA-66 Hard Drive Work on the Intel LM440LX Motherboard?
The IDE controller integrated into the Intel LM440LX Motherboard supports Ultra DMA modes 0,1, and 2. Ultra DMA mode 2, also known as ATA-33 or Ultra DMA 33, is the highest speed transfer mode supported by the Intel LM440LX Motherboard. The motherboard hardware cannot support the maximum transfer rate of the ATA-66 drives. A drive that complies with the ATA-66 specification will run timings up to Ultra ATA-33 on the Intel LM440LX Motherboard.
