LANDesk* Network Manager provides several other applications with the main product. All of these but Trend Watch (which is automatically started with Network Manager) are represented as icons in the LANDesk Network Manager program group. The Trend Watch icon is minimized when you are running Network Manager.
Trend Watch
Trend Watch is a part of the Network Manager long-term statistics subsystem. This background application monitors and saves variables selected with the Network Manager Node History command on the Edit menu. Trend Watch (HISTORY.EXE) is started and stopped automatically by Network Manager.
TrendView
TrendView is also part of the Network Manager long-term statistics subsystem. Use the TrendView application (GRAPH.EXE) to import and graph history information saved by Trend Watch. TrendView can save imported data in a graph file that can be quickly loaded later. A graph can display up to twelve variables.
Event Pager
Event Pager (PAGER.EXE) is an application that sends a message to a numeric pager when a Network Manager event occurs. To use the Event Pager, you must configure a set of pager users and also a Network Manager event filter for each event you want to page someone for. For more information, see "Event Pager" in the Network Manager online help.
You can purchase the Ex Machina Notify!* pager program (NOT!ALPH.EXE or NOT!NMM.EXE) to replace Event Pager. Notify! supports alphanumeric pagers and pager services. For more information, see the Network Manager release notes.
Telnet
Telnet (TELNET.EXE) is a simple TCP/IP remote login and terminal emulation application. Many devices such as the Express switching hub (but not the Express stackable hub) support Telnet login for configuration purposes.
To use Telnet you must connect to a Telnet server in a foreign host. Once connected, the text displayed in the Telnet screen is fully dependent on the Telnet implementation in that device.
TFTP Server
TFTP is the TCP/IP Trivial File Transfer Protocol. TFTP is used by devices to download executable boot files.
Start the TFTP server (TFTPD.EXE) by double-clicking the TFTP server icon in the Network Manager program group. The TFTP server listens for file transfer requests and sends and receives files to and from TFTP clients. Usually the TFTP server is set up to run when Windows* is started and is used only to transfer files from the local computer to TFTP clients. The TFTP server application window displays a log of file transfer connections from remote hosts.
BOOTP
BOOTP is a standard TCP/IP application used for setting device IP addresses and downloading executable boot images. You can start BOOTP by double-clicking the BOOTP icon in the Network Manager program group. However, you'll probably want to start BOOTP automatically when Windows starts.
