The community strings shown here must match the strings defined in the actual hub, switch, or other device. If they don't match, you cannot manage the device. Most devices either use the default community strings or have a console program that allows you to change them.
Read
Allows read-only access to a device's SNMP information to view status or configuration information.
The default is public.
Read/Write
Allows both read and write access to a device's SNMP information to change a device's status or configuration.
The default is private.
Trap
Allows Network Manager to receive trap (alert) messages sent by a device when, for example, it has a problem.
The default is public.
Default
Resets the community strings to their default settings.
