Exit Close the Network Manager application.
Edit menu Edit nodes; AutoDiscovery, Clipboard
AutoDiscovery Create a network map automatically by polling nodes attached to the network. Displays the AutoDiscovery dialog box to select options. The first time you use AutoDiscovery, the Setup dialog box is displayed. You can selectively add discovered nodes to the map by using the Filter button from the AutoDiscovery dialog box.
Node Properties Adds a new node or changes the properties of a selected node or network.
Delete Deletes the selected map objects or log entries. Deleting a log entry from the current log window acknowledges that you've seen the event. The log entry is still stored in the history log.
Node History Displays the Node History dialog box to select SNMP tables to be tracked by Trend Watch and saved in a file. The data is saved by the separate Trend Watch program. You can use Trend Watch to export the saved data and view monitored data in real-time meters. Add items to the Node History dialog box from the MIB table window.
Default Node Properties Changes the default node properties used when you create a new node by choosing Node Properties from the Edit menu with nothing selected. (To make sure nothing is selected in a map, click in an empty part of the map.)
Cut Deletes selected text and places it on the Clipboard.
Copy Copies selected text, or the properties of the selected node, to the Clipboard.
Paste Pastes text, or previously copied node properties, from the Clipboard. In the Paste Node Attributes dialog box, you can select which properties to copy to the selected nodes. Log menu Manipulate log window view
View Node Displays the current log file entries for the selected node.
View Node History Displays the history log file entries for the selected node.
View Current Displays the current log file for all nodes.
View History Displays the history log file for all nodes.
View Filter Displays only the portion of the log file that you specify. The Event Filters dialog box prompts you for options.
Search Filter Lets you specify options for selecting an entry in the log window. The first matching entry is selected.
Search Next Finds the next log window entry that matches the options specified with the Search Filter command.
Clear Log Deletes the log file displayed. The entire file is deleted, not just the portion displayed. Map menu Find objects and change map view
Map Grid Sets height and width of the grid where nodes and networks snap to when moved.
Background Image Select a Windows BMP file to use as a hierarchy background image.
Lock Map Use the Lock Map command to prevent anyone from accidentally moving or editing nodes. When this option is on, a check mark appears next to the command and the Lock keyword in the status bar is black.
Navigate Show a tree view of the network map hierarchy nodes. Each node background is displayed as the color of the highest-priority log message for any Agent node in the hierarchy.
Find Object Find an agent node, hierarchy node, or network, and display it in a map window.
Select Nodes Select multiple nodes in the current view or entire map. Options exist to select all nodes, all nodes of the same type, all hierarchies, or no nodes.
Center Map Reposition map window contents so they are in the center of the window.
Clear Border Removes the node border color for the nodes that you specify.
Zoom Change the scale of the viewed map. Options exist for enlarging, reducing, and normalizing the scale.
Arrange > Snake Net Select a network (not nodes) and use this command to arrange the network as a snaked bus. All nodes attached to the network are also relocated. The mouse cursor changes to a bar, indicating a network. Click the map window at the place where you want the network to be drawn.
Arrange > Ring Net Select a network (not nodes) and use this command to arrange the network as a ring. All nodes attached to the network will also be relocated. The mouse cursor will change to a bar, indicating a network. Click the map window at the place where you want the network to be drawn.
Arrange > Snap To Grid Select a network (not nodes) and use this command to move all objects in the open map to the nearest grid points. Manage menu Poll nodes and browse a node's MIB variables
SNMP Poll Immediately checks the status of the selected node and displays the result. Click the Poll Node button on the toolbar for the same result. Normally, each node is polled at intervals specified when you choose Node Properties from the Edit menu and clicking Poll Int..
Display MIB Table Display multiple entries of an SNMP MIB table as a list. An entry from the displayed table can be selected and then edited; or charted, graphed, or listed in real time. The Display MIB Table pop-up dialog box is displayed. After selecting a MIB table name, use the Display button to display the MIB Table Window.
Edit MIB Variables Perform SNMP operations on a individual MIB variables. The Edit MIB Variables dialog box is displayed.
Run API Program Run one of the built-in Network Manager programs. Because the appropriate program is already specified in a node's properties, it's rarely necessary to use this command.
Other menu commands Any menu commands below Run API Program and the separator bar are custom menu commands. Custom menus execute any built-in command without first having to select a table name. For example, System > List Info displays the SystemInfo group in a List window. You can create or edit these menus by clicking Menu in the MIB Table Window. RMON menu
Set up an RMON probe and data display
Set Network Probe Select RMON probe for network
Statistics Group Ethernet network statistics
History Group Ethernet network historical statistics
Alarms Group Set thresholds for network statistics
Hosts Group Node statistics
Matrix Group Node-to-node conversation statistics
Capture Group Packet capture Config menu Select Network Manager options and set up notification Commands in the Config menu let you set Network Manager preferences, configure notifications, use login commands, and do other general tasks.
Options > Poll Disable Stops periodic status checks of each node in the map. You can still manage devices, though. The Poll keyword in the status bar is gray when polling is disabled.
Options > Save Layout On Exit If selected, saves the Network Manager window layout when exit. The command has a check mark when this option is on.
Options > Use MAC Address as Node Name Displays the node name or IP address in MIB tables where the MAC address would normally appear. For example, with this option on, the PhysAddress entry in the ARP Table list might display 135.120.100.59/4 (port 4 of that IP address) instead of 00 AA 00 19 35 C5. This occurs only if that MAC address is assigned to the port of a node in your map. You can see the actual MAC address by double-clicking the table entry or turning this option off.
Options > Applications On Top Makes all utility applications (such as Intel device viewers or Trend Watch) belong to the Network Manager main window. These windows are then always displayed on top of Network Manager. When you minimize Network Manager, these applications are minimized as well. With this option off, when you display a statistics table from an Intel device viewer, for example, the device viewer is covered up by Network Manager.
Options > European Date Format Changes the log file's date format to show day before month (25/6/95 for June 25th). With this option off, the month is first (6/25/96). This doesn't change already existing log entries.
Serial Number Displays or changes the Network Manager installation serial number. You may need to use this command to change a temporary (demonstration) serial number to a permanent serial number.
Save Layout Saves the window layout now. The next time you start Network Manager, the windows now open are displayed in the same locations.
Poll Retries Sets the maximum number of times that Network Manager repeats an SNMP request before giving up, and the timeout period to wait before retrying the request.
Notifications Configures alerts for when an event occurs. The Notifications dialog box displays all of the current event filters (alerts) and lets you add others.
Compile MIB Compiles SNMP MIB source files. This happens automatically when you first start Network Manager. If you later add network devices with their own MIBs, copy the .mib files to the \ldnm\mibfiles subdirectory and choose this command.
Moves and deletes custom menu options from the Manage menu. To add a custom menu, display a MIB table, select the data you want quick access to, and click Menu.
Log In Lets you log in as a different user. A dialog box prompts you for a user name and password. If you log in as a different user, Network Manager closes the current map, opens the other user's map, and restores the window layout previously saved for that user.
Log Out Lets you log out of Network Manager as a user but continues checking the status map nodes. Network Manager closes all windows and disables all commands except the Log In command.
User List Adds new users and sets user access levels in the User Setup dialog box. This command may be limited, depending on your own privileges. At Supervisor level you can create and delete users and change any password. At Operator level you can change only your own password. At Observer level, the command is disabled. Window menu Arrange windows
Tile Arrange windows so they are all totally visible.
Cascade Arrange windows so they are all partially visible.
Arrange Icons Arrange icons along the lower part of the frame window.
Close All Windows Close all Network Manager windows. This has no effect on the operation of Network Manager. The map is still open and nodes are still being polled.
Home Submap Select an open map window containing the top level map, or create a new map window and display the top level map in it.
Parent Submap Select an open map window containing the parent hierarchy of the currently selected map window, or create a new map window and display the parent hierarchy in it.
