Network Manager Error Message "Bad community name"

This error occurs if one of the SNMP community strings specified in the map node icon doesn't match the string defined in the actual network device. By default in Network Manager, the Read string is "public", the Read/Write string is "private", and the Trap string is "public".

  1. Check the map node's strings by selecting the icon, choosing Node Properties from the Edit menu, and clicking Community.

  2. Use your network device's documentation to see how to check the community strings set on the actual device.

This applies to:
LANDesk* Network Manager
