Intel® Play™ QX3™ Computer Microscope
Users with Restricted Rights are Unable to Run Application on Windows* 2000

This information applies ONLY to the Software Update CD-ROM or the Intel® Play™ QX3™+ Computer Microscope Software CD-ROM.

Symptoms Encountered:

A user with restricted rights may encounter the following error message when trying to run the microscope's software application on Microsoft Windows* 2000:

"There isn't enough room on your computer to get started. Please make more room on your hard drive. (71) Access is denied"
A user with administrator rights is able to run the microscope's software application without encountering this error.

Resolution:

To enable users with restricted rights to use the microscope's software application, a user with administrator rights needs to perform the following steps:
  1. Log onto the computer with administrator rights.
  2. Open Windows Explorer (click on Start » Programs » Accessories &» Windows Explorer)
  3. Locate the QX3 Microscope folder where the microscope software was installed. By default, this folder can be found in C:\Program Files\Intel Play\.
  4. Right-click the QX3 Microscope folder and choose Properties.
  5. Click the Security tab.
  6. Click the Add button .
  7. Select the users and user groups that need access to the microscope software on this computer using the Add button.
  8. Click OK when finished.
  9. For each user and user group (that was selected in Step 7), highlight their Name, and then grant them permission to Modify the QX3 Microscope folder (put a checkmark in their Modify permission's Allow checkbox).
  10. Click OK when finished. The selected users and users who are part of the selected user groups should now be able to log onto the computer and use the microscope's software application.
