Windows* 95/98 Error: "Unable to browse the network..."

  1. Double-click My Computer, Control Panel, and then System.

  2. Click the Device Manager tab and open the Network Adapters item.

    Click on the adapter, click Remove.
    Reboot your system and re-install the driver again.

  3. Check the link lights found on adapter back panel.
    What you see What to do
    100: On when adapter is in 100 Mbps mode If you don't see this, it may be that you are connected to a 10Mbps hub or switch- check Link/Act light next.
    Link/Act: On when link is detected, flashes with activity. No link light: check your cabling.
  4. Double-click with the right mouse button on the Network Neighborhood.

  5. Select Properties. Check for 'File and Print sharing'.

    What to do if you don't see this,
    1. Select Add.
    2. Select or highlight Service
    3. Select Add.
    4. Select 'File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks'.
    You may be prompted for your Windows CD. Put it into your CD-ROM drive and type the path to the Windows setup files (for example, D:\WIN95). If you don't have a Windows CD, the files may be on your hard drive at C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS.
