Starting Setup from the CD

The Internet Station CD-ROM contains the software you need to set up a Windows* 95 or Windows NT* 4.0 system to communicate with the Internet Station. Setup can also install an Internet Web browser, which you need to configure the Internet Station and browse the Internet.

If you have already configured your PC for TCP/IP on your local network, Setup checks to see if your configuration is compatible with the Internet Station.

To start Setup

  1. Insert the CD-ROM into a drive in your PC. If Setup doesn't start automatically, run SETUP.EXE from the CD (from the Start menu, click Run and browse to find SETUP.EXE on the CD).

  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.

  3. When you select components to install, select Configure Internet Networking. If you don't have a compatible Web browser, select Install Compatible Browser. Compatible browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer* 4.02a or Netscape Navigator* 4.06 or later.

Note: You don't need to install the Modem Finder software for Internet operation. Modem Finder is needed only for modem sharing.

Configuring the Internet Station

After you finish running Setup from the CD and restart your computer, your Web browser starts and displays the First Time Setup page from the Internet Station.

To run the Setup Wizard

  1. If First Time Setup doesn't start, open your Web browser, type the following in the Address window, and press Enter.
    http://istation.my-station.com
    or
    http://192.168.42.254

  2. The Setup Wizard should start automatically. If not run the Setup Wizard and follow the instructions on the screen to select a modem for Internet use and enter the information from your ISP worksheet.

What happens next?

After you finish the Setup Wizard, you can browse the Internet from your PC.
