When no activity is detected on a switch port, the 4-port 10/100 switch sends out IEEE 802.3z pause frames on that port that will cause the connection/traffic LED to flash. These pause frames will cease as soon as traffic is detected on the port and will not negatively affect the performance of the switch or the network.
