The dial in feature of the Intel® InBusiness eMail Station
allows access to eMail from anywhere as well as remote administration.
Once dial in has been activated the modem goes from a dial out state
to a "waiting" dial in state. The dial-in PPP engine will assign an
IP address of 192.168.43.2 to the remote user initiating the call.
The eMail Station will then route packets from the Local Area Network
(LAN) side of the eMail Station (192.168.42,x by default) to the Wide
Area Network (WAN) side of the eMail Station (192.168.43.2 will be
the only IP address used). This connection can be used for sending &
receiving eMail or Managing the eMail Station via HTML and a Browser.
Follow the instructions below to setup dial in access:
On the eMail Station
- Browse to the eMail Station home page and go to "Manage Modem."

- Click on "Dial In."

- Click on the "Dial In Service Enabled (Analog modems only)" check box.

- Submit the changes but do not reboot.
Note: It is also recommended to statically assign the IP address to the eMail Station.

- Click on "Manage Network\Setting."

- Make sure the "Use DHCP to configure IP information" is unchecked.

- Enter the IP address of the eMail Station 192.168.42.253 (or an appropriate IP address of your choosing).

- Submit changes and reboot the eMail Station.

On the Dial in PC using Microsoft* Windows* 95/98
- Setup a "Dial-up connection" on the PC. Refer to Microsoft documentation for setup instructions.

- The dial-up phone number is the destination modem phone number for the eMail Station.

- On the "Connect to" page, enter the "User Name" and "Password." This is your eMail name and password on the eMail Station.

Microsoft Outlook Express*
- Open Microsoft Outlook Express.

- Go to "Tools\Accounts" and chose the properties for your account.

- Go to the "Servers" tab and verify that the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3)" are set to the eStation IP address. 192.168.42.253.
Note: DNS services are limited for remote users, so using the IP address as the server name provides more consistent results.

- Go to the "Connection" tab and change connection to "Connect using my phone line."

- Apply changes, close and reopen Microsoft* Outlook Express.

You are now ready for dial in access to the Intel® InBusiness eMail Station.
Managing the eMail Station
Confirm your browser is configured to use the modem and not a LAN connection. Launching the browser and going to http://192.168.42.253 will allow you manage the eMail Station as if you were connected to the LAN.
Note: DNS services are limited for remote users, so using the IP address as the server name provides more consistent results.
