Symptom(s):
On some displays, the native resolution for Intel chipsets is not usable. For example, resolutions for 1920x1080, 1680x1050, and 1440x900 are not available in graphics properties.
Cause:
The Extended Display Information Data (EDID) does not read properly when connected to some digital flat panel displays. Display devices describe their capabilities by sending EDID to the computer.
Solution:
Intel has a graphics driver to specifically address this issue. But, there can be side-effects including longer than normal resume times from standby. This solution only works with an external computer display, like a digital flat panel connected to a VGA, DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort* port. This driver is not designed to address issues with a built-in display (local flat panel) or with a TV connected to the computer. This driver is offered as is. Intel has not tested and does not guarantee the operation of the driver for this purpose.
