Symptom(s):
After a DVI Hot Plug event of either plugging in or unplugging an DVI monitor, the CPU Usage (as reported by Microsoft® Windows Task Manager) will normally jump up to ~20% during detection and then settle back down, however using the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* XP version PV14.25 or PV14.25.50 drivers in conjunction with some SDVO-DVI transmitters*, the CPU Usage stays high until the system is rebooted.
* SDVO-DVI transmitter list is not definitive.
Solution:
Updates for the Mobile Intel® 915GM chipset software are no longer available. The only known work-around is to use PV14.24 drivers, which do not exhibit the same behavior.
