90 and 270 degree rotation options unavailable

Symptom:

  • 90 and 270 Degree rotation options are grayed out and unavailable
  • Only Normal and 180 Degree rotation options are available

Cause:

In the Windows* operating system, the “Hide modes that this monitor cannot display” checkbox is typically enabled (checked) by default. Also, the monitor does not support these rotated displays.

Solution:

This is expected behavior of the Intel® graphics driver. The driver's 90 and 270 degree rotation options will be grayed out and unavailable when the “Hide modes that this monitor cannot display” checkbox is enabled (or checked) within the Windows* operating system and the monitor does not support these rotated displays. If this checkbox is disabled (or unchecked), these rotations options will become available.

This checkbox is located under Start » Control Panel » Display (if Display is not viewable, switch to Classic View first) » Settings tab » Advanced button » Monitor tab. See Figure 1.
