Microsoft* Word Shortcut Keys Do Not Function while Intel Hot Keys Are Enabled

Symptom(s):

Microsoft* Word 2000 and Word 2002 "Shortcut Keys" do not function while the "Hot Keys" feature of the Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 Driver is enabled (Hot Keys are enabled by default).

Hot Keys include: Ctrl Alt I, Ctrl Alt D, Ctrl Alt L, Ctrl Alt F1, and Ctrl Alt F2.

Cause:

The Operating System registers the Hot Keys when the applications are loaded. The Intel Extreme Graphics 2 Driver Custom User Interface (CUI) is loaded before Microsoft Word, and therefore the Intel Extreme Graphics Driver's CUI Hot Keys are mapped first, and take priority over the Microsoft Word hot key mapping request.

Solution:

The current workaround for this issue is to either disable the Hot Keys feature within the Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 Driver, or remap the Microsoft* Word "Shortcut Keys." To disable the Hot Keys feature, right-click on the Windows desktop, select Graphics Properties, Hot Keys and uncheck the "Enable Hot Keys" checkbox. To remap Shortcut Keys, please refer to the Microsoft* Word manual or online help.

Operating System:

Windows 2000 *, Windows XP Professional*, Windows XP Home Edition*, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition*

This applies to:

Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller
Intel® 82852/82855 Graphics Controller Family
Intel® 82865G Graphics and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH)
