Symptom(s):
Tron* 2.0 game will not run.
The game displays an error indicating: "...you must have DirectX 9.0a installed and a video card that supports hardware TnL."
Cause:
The game requires a graphics adapter with hardware T&L (Transform and Lighting) support to run. Intel® graphics controllers do not support hardware T&L. T&L can be done by the processor (in software) with acceptable performance in most cases, but since the game specifically checks for hardware T&L, it fails to run, except on the Intel® 82865G graphics controller, as noted above.
Solution:
This game requires features that are not currently implemented by the referenced graphics hardware. To determine which graphics features are implemented on a particular graphics platform, refer to the product datasheet on http://developer.intel.com/
However, Intel has worked with the game manufacturer and the Intel® 82865G graphics controller does work in the latest patch of the game, which is available at http://www.tron20.net.
Note: this patch enables support for Intel 82865G graphics controllers and later ONLY; older Intel graphics controllers, such as the Intel® 82845G graphics controller, will to continue to exhibit symptoms as described above.
