Upgrading from Windows NT* 4.0 to Windows* 2000

Symptom(s):
Upgrading from Windows NT* 4.0 to Windows* 2000 results in Windows 2000 using the graphics driver for Windows NT 4.0.

Cause:
When you upgrade from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows 2000 with the Intel 810 or 815 Chipset family graphics drivers installed, Windows 2000 may use the existing Windows NT 4.0 display driver files.

Solution:
Remove the Intel® 810 or 815 chipset family graphics device driver files and set your display to VGA mode prior to upgrading from Windows NT* 4.0 to Windows 2000.

To change to VGA mode, go to Control Panel -> Display applet -> Settings -> Advanced -> Adapter tab -> Change... -> Next -> Display a list... -> Show All Hardware -> (Standard Display Types) -> Standard Display Adapter (VGA) -> Yes -> reboot.

Operating System:
Windows 2000 *, Windows NT 4.0*

This applies to:
Intel® 82810 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH)
Intel® 82815 Graphics Controller
