Limited video modes with 6.5.2 graphics driver and certain monitors

Symptom(s):

Limited video modes with 6.5.2 graphics driver and certain monitors
Limited to 640x480 resolution or 800x600 resolution

Cause:
The graphics driver detected an invalid EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) with the monitor.

Solution:
Upgrade to the 6.6 (or later) graphics drivers. A workaround is available with this driver to ignore an invalid EDID.
