What is High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)?

High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a digital media single point interface for CE devices. It supports compressed and uncompressed video and audio, allowing a single cable to be used for both video and audio.

Video data is received via SDVO signals from the GMCH. Audio signals are received through the Intel® High Definition Audio bus.

HDMI is supported on the Intel® G965 Express Chipset and requires the following components:

  • HDMI ADD2 card
  • Graphics driver with HDMI support (version 14.21 and higher)
  • Audio bus driver (distributed by Microsoft*)
  • Intel® High Definition Audio HDMI driver (included in v14.21 and higher of the graphics driver supporting the Intel® 82G965 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub)

This applies to:
Intel® 82G965 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH)
