Issue: When a system with the Intel® 810 chipset family or Intel® 815 chipset family graphics drivers is upgraded to Windows* XP, in some cases the Windows XP Upgrade Advisor may report that "Intel® Graphics Technology (in Control Panel)" does not support Windows XP. The full details report indicates that the user should upgrade this item prior to installing Windows XP. This issue only occurs when upgrading from Windows* 98, Windows* 98 SE, or Windows* Me.
Since graphics drivers are specific to the particular operating system that is currently installed, the graphics drivers cannot be upgraded prior to installing Windows XP.
Explanation: This warning indicates that the "Intel Graphics Technology" icon in Control Panel will be disabled during the upgrade process, as described by Microsoft* Knowledgebase article ID Q283551*. It does not mean the graphics drivers will stop functioning in Windows XP.
Solution: The user should continue with the installation of Windows XP. Graphics drivers for the Intel 810 and 815 chipset families are included with Windows XP. To restore the "Intel Graphics Technology" icon to Control Panel, the user can install the 6.4.1 or later graphics drivers, available from support.intel.com, after the upgrade to Windows XP is complete.
Overview An AGP Digital Display (ADD) card is an adapter card that can be inserted into the AGP port of Intel® 845G chipset family-based systems. ADD cards allow configurations for TV-out, LVDS, and TMDS output (i.e. televisions and digital displays/flat panels). Combined with an Intel® Extreme Graphics Driver, ADD cards can be used to display system output to a television, digital display, or simultaneously to a monitor and digital display. Simultaneous display between a monitor and television is not supported.
Compatibility
- ADD cards with DVI support flat panel displays and some High Definition TVs with DVI
- ADD cards with TV-out support standard definition in both NTSC and PAL formats
- ADD cards are compatible only with systems containing the Intel 845G chipset family and an AGP slot. ADD cards inserted into other AGP compliant systems (e.g. Intel® 815 chipset) will fail to load.
Support Unless purchased with an Intel® Desktop Board, technical support for ADD card hardware should be directed to the original manufacturer of the card. If the issue appears to be with the graphics driver software, Email Support is offered directly by Intel.
