The above error occurs when attempting to install Intel® graphics drivers on systems that do not contain a chipset supported by the driver or on systems that use a discrete (PCI or AGP) graphics solution.
Check the README file associated with your graphics driver to determine the supported chipsets. For help in determining what chipset your system contains, please refer to Determining what chipset a system contains.
Below are some common configurations that will result in a "Software error" when installing drivers for the Intel 830/830MG chipset:
Intel® 810 Chipset Family or Intel® 815 Chipset Family
Graphics drivers for the Intel 830M/830MG chipset are not compatible with the Intel® 810 chipset or Intel® 815 chipset families. Graphics drivers for these chipsets can be found at: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/support_intel.aspx under the heading "graphics" in the left menu on the Web site.
Systems Using PCI or AGP Discrete Graphics Solutions
Graphics drivers for the Intel 830M/830MG chipset are not compatible with chipsets which rely on discrete graphics solutions (e.g., Intel® 830MP chipset, Intel® 850 chipset, etc.). These chipsets rely on the drivers for discrete graphics chips or cards to enable video on the system. Drivers for discrete graphics solutions must be obtained from the original system or graphics manufacturer.
