You do not need to install the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager RAID driver during Microsoft Windows Vista* installation because Intel provided the RAID driver as part of the final Windows Vista release.

However, if you want to install a newer version of the driver during Windows Vista installation, use the following steps.

1. Download the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
2. Use the instructions in the readme file to extract the necessary files from the installation package. These files are: iaStor.sys, iaStor.cat, iaStor.inf, and TXTSETUP.oem.
3. Place the files on a floppy disk, USB device, or CD/DVD media.

   Note If you are using a floppy disk, you can use the Floppy Configuration Utility to create a floppy disk with the necessary files.

4. Click Load Driver when you see a screen titled Where do you want to install Windows? during the Windows Vista installation process.
5. Insert the media that contains the driver files.
