Use the following steps to convert a RAID 1 volume to a recovery volume.
- Open the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager (Start » All Programs » Intel® Matrix Storage Manager » Intel® Matrix Storage Console).

- Click the View menu, then click Advanced mode.
- Right-click the RAID 1 volume in the device tree and click Convert to Recovery Volume.

- Select Next to continue.
- Modify the recovery volume name if desired.
- Select which of the two RAID 1 member hard drives you want to use for the master hard drive.
- The other hard drive will be used for the recovery hard drive. If you wish to change this, do so, then click Next.
- Select an update policy for the recovery volume.

- Click Finish to convert the RAID 1 volume to a recovery volume.
