A RAID-Ready system is a specific system configuration that can be seamlessly migrated to a configuration that provides either improved storage performance or data protection from a single hard drive failure. All it requires is the addition of a second Serial ATA hard drive.
In order for a system with Intel® Viiv™ technology∇
to be considered RAID-Ready, it must meet all of the following requirements:
- System with an Intel® 82801GH I/O controller hub (ICH7DH)
- One SATA Native Command Queuing (NCQ) hard drive
- RAID controller enabled in the BIOS
- Motherboard BIOS that includes the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager option ROM
- Intel® Matrix Storage Manager loaded
