A blue screen may occur when attempting to use the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager version PV5.0 to migrate from a single non-RAID Serial ATA hard drive (also known as a "RAID Ready" configuration) to RAID 10 when 128Kb has been selected as the strip size.
To recover, perform the following steps:
- Reboot the system
- Use <CTRL> + <i> to enter the option ROM user interface
- Select option 3 "Reset drives to non-RAID"
- Use the space bar to select all four of the hard drives and press Enter
- Enter 'Y' to confirm
- Select option 4 "Exit"
At this point, the data on the original non-RAID hard drive will be intact and the hard drive may be selected as the boot device.
This issue will not occur in Intel Matrix Storage Manager version PV5.1 because the option to select a 128Kb strip size is no longer offered when migrating from a single non-RAID Serial ATA hard drive to RAID 10.
