Intel® Matrix Storage Manager continues to provide enhanced storage features and performance on Intel-based chipsets.
“RAID Edition” was used on Intel® 865 and 875 chipsets to distinguish that the product focused on providing RAID functionality.
For Intel® 915 and 925X Express Chipsets, the name Intel Application Accelerator 4.0 was used to indicate that the product provided RAID support as well as enhanced Serial ATA performance and features via Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI). For Mobile Intel® 915 Express Chipsets, Intel Application Accelerator 4.7 provided AHCI support only.
For Intel® 945 and 955 Express Chipsets, Intel Matrix Storage Manager provides RAID support, adding RAID 5 and RAID 10 support, as well as continued Serial ATA performance and features via AHCI. The name Intel Matrix Storage Manager is used to align the software name with the technology it enables.
