Intel® Application Accelerator
Windows* XP Upgrade Notification

If you have the Intel® Application Accelerator installed on your system and plan to upgrade your operating system to Windows* XP, you should first uninstall the Intel Application Accelerator. This is because the Intel Application Accelerator will be partially disabled after a system is upgraded to Windows XP (both Home Edition and Professional versions).

To prevent or correct this issue, refer to the applicable steps below:

Note: This is a known issue and is not related to the Intel Application Accelerator. It should not prevent you from successfully upgrading to Windows XP.

Steps to Prevent Issue from Occurring

The following steps can be taken before upgrading to Windows XP:

  1. Uninstall the Intel Application Accelerator by completing the instructions listed in section 8.12 of the Intel® Application Accelerator User's Manual document.
  2. After you have successfully upgraded to Windows XP, reinstall the Intel Application Accelerator.

Steps to Correct Issue After Windows XP Upgrade

If you upgraded to Windows XP without uninstalling the Intel Application Accelerator, reinstall the Intel Application Accelerator to correct the issue.

Note: If you do not uninstall the Intel Application Accelerator before upgrading to Windows XP, the Intel Application Accelerator will be replaced with Microsoft's* native ATA driver. A shortcut to the Intel Application Accelerator will still be located under Start / Programs, but clicking on the Intel Application Accelerator will result in an error message because the application will no longer be loaded.

Any attempts to uninstall the Intel Application Accelerator after the upgrade may result in an error message after the system has been rebooted. Additional detailed information can be found on the Windows XP Upgrade Table.
