Intel® Tuning Assistant
The Intel® Tuning Assistant provides performance-counter based insights and advice on the Windows* operating system and the latest Intel® processors, and source-based advice for multiple languages (C/C++, Java*, Fortran and assembly).

  • Algorithmic improvements. The Tuning Assistant can identify opportunities for algorithmic improvements, such as loop unrolling, poor cache utilization, inefficient type conversions and redundant operations. It can also identify array or pointer usage that limits the ability of a compiler to optimize code.
  • Processor-Specific Bottlenecks and Improvements. By sampling on processor-specific bottlenecks, such as 64k Antialiasing Events, the Tuning Assistant can point out bottlenecks and provide suggestions for how to improve the code. For a complete listing of events, please refer to the Events handbook in the VTune Analyzer help menu.
  • Sampling Wizard enhancements. Tuning Assistant options were added to the Sampling Wizard to make Sampling easier to use. The Sampling Wizard can now select appropriate EBS events for the system being profiled, and can automatically launch the Tuning Assistant after profiling to generate tuning advice.
  • Hyper-Threading. The Intel® Tuning Assistant in the VTune™ analyzer for Windows* analyzes Event Based Sampling data to quickly identify both what optimizations you should make, and where in your code to make them, to take advantage of Hyper-Threading Technology and other advanced performance features of Intel's latest processors.
