Remote Data Collection

The VTune™ Performance Analyzer 7. 1 now includes Remote Data Collectors for 32- and 64-bit Linux*, and 32- and 64-bit Microsoft* Windows*. A host computer running 32-bit or 64 bit Microsoft Windows and the VTune analyzer GUI can control and perform event -based sampling and call graph data analysis on a target machine running a Linux or Windows 32- or 64-bit remote data collector. The connection between the target and host computers is TCP/IP.

Remote Data Collection benefits are:

  • Linux Support:The Remote Data Collectors provide the advantage of Linux VTune Analyzer support while maintaining the ease of use of the VTune analyzer Windows GUI for data analysis and interpretation.
  • Extremely Low Overhead:The Remote Data Collector running on your target machine uses fewer resources than a full instance of the VTune Analyzer running the GUI.

Please note that Remote Data Collection is currently limited to event sampling and Call Graph. It does not support collection of Counter Monitor data.
