Applied Research
 
The Intel Mote 2 platform embodies multiple years of research in low-power, high-performance building blocks for wireless sensor networks. Crossbow Technology Inc. recently introduced a commercial line of licensed products based on this innovative platform for the broad research community.
 
TIER
University of California, Berkeley announced the results of a collaborative effort between Aravind Eye Hospital in India, the University of California (UC) Berkeley and Intel Corporation. Researchers from UC Berkeley's Technology and Infrastructure for Emerging Regions (TIER) team and Intel Research's lab on the UC Berkeley campus, developed a new wireless technology system to enable low-cost vision care for thousands of residents of rural villages in India.

Madeleine Glick
Madeleine Glick, of the Intel Research Cambridge Lab has been elected a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (IOP). The IOP is an international society which promotes the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and education in the science of physics, pure and applied. The IOP has >37,000 members of which are approximately 1/10th are Fellows. Fellows are elected on the basis of "outstanding contributions to Physics at the highest levels".
 
Roy Want
Dr. Roy Want, a Principal Engineer at Intel Research and leader of the Ubiquity project, has been named a Fellow by two leading industry organizations, the IEEE and ACM.
