The Indiana Office of Technology (IOT) has moved aggressively to modernize the state's infrastructure, apply industry best practices, and deploy industry-standard technologies-primarily Dell servers based on Quad-Core and Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processors. Its two-year initiative has generated recurring annual savings of more than USD 13.9 million.

Now IOT is turning to the state's aging and highly diverse fleet of 25,000 PCs, specifying Dell OptiPlex* PCs powered by the Intel® Core™2 processor with vPro™ technology. A study conducted with Intel and Dell Services shows that using the PCs with vPro technology to enhance manageability provides the state with the potential to reduce IT costs by over USD 400,000 annually-and save another USD 400,000 on power costs each year.

"We're very excited about the savings we're projecting," says Paul Baltzell, director of IOT, "but we're also excited about what it means for the IT group, government employees, and citizens in general."
