Kapil Wadhera is the general manager for the Education Market Platforms Group (EMPG). He is responsible for leading the research, definition, development and marketing of technology platforms specifically designed for emerging markets. One of these solutions is the Intel-powered classmate PC, a reference design for elementary schools students based on years of ethnographic research around the world. The Intel-powered classmate PC is part of the Intel® Learning Series, a comprehensive initiative that integrates hardware, software and services designed specifically for education. The Intel Learning Series supports local technology companies that customize products and services in their own country, innovating in and around the classmate PC reference design to enhance and improve students’ experiences with technology.

Kapil joined EMPG in early 2006 as the director of Platform Marketing, including with a two-year posting in Shanghai, China. Previously, he was the marketing manager for the Mobile Platform Group, responsible for driving multiple generations of notebook platforms (including Intel Centrino® technology based solutions) with multinational companies, channel partners and original device manufacturers. Prior to joining Mobile Platform Group in 1994, Kapil was the microprocessor design engineering manager responsible for the design of the 486 and the Pentium® family of processors.

Kapil joined Intel in 1989 as a Microprocessor design engineer and has held various engineering and marketing management roles over the last 21 years. He holds a Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering from IIT, India, a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University, Arizona and an MBA from Santa Clara University, California.
