Rama K. Shukla is vice president of the Mobility Group and director of the Platform Program Office for Intel Corporation. He is responsible for developing platforms based on Intel's mobile processors and supporting the design and deployment of these platforms by Intel customers. Shukla joined Intel in 1979.
Previously, Shukla was general manager of the Photonics Technology operation, an optical component startup within Intel. He has also held various positions in Intel's Technology and Manufacturing Group, ranging from individual contributor to group manager and involving the development of manufacturing process technologies and assembly/packaging technologies.
Shukla received his master's degree in solid state chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1974 and his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1979. He was elected fellow of the International Academy of Physical Science in 2000, holds one patent and has published numerous papers related to silicon and assembly technologies. He received IEEE Manufacturing Technology of the Year Award in 2000 for leading industry transition to flip-chip laminated package technologies at Intel.
