Intel Recognized For Workplace Equality
Company Again Earns Perfect Score on Corporate Equality Index
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 20, 2005 - For the fourth year in a row Intel Corporation earned a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index, which rates how major U.S. corporations treat gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors.
In benchmarking, Intel leads in its work-life guidelines and global integration programs. Intel was one of the first Fortune 500 companies to provide domestic partner benefits. Intel's 21 employee affinity groups run the gamut, from groups for women and parents, and those for Muslim and Christian employees, to groups for Latinos, African Americans and recent college graduates. More than 100 chapters worldwide offer support and networking opportunities for employees. Employee groups also offer opportunities to participate in a variety of company-wide programs such as cultural awareness events, mentoring, professional development, community involvement and recruitment.
"Respect for the individual is as essential to Intel's innovation as the latest and greatest R&D," said Sean Maloney, Intel executive vice president and sponsor of IGLOBE, the Intel employee group for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees. "To lead the technology industry, Intel's workplace environment must celebrate and honor the perspectives of 90,000 Intel employees."
