Intel Press Release

Intel to Acquire Dayna Communications

Intel Adds Small Business Expertise to Continue Growth of Networking Business

HILLSBORO, Ore., Sept. 24, 1997 -- Intel Corporation today announced it has agreed to acquire Dayna Communications Inc., a manufacturer of small business networking products based in Salt Lake City. Dayna's employees and products will become key elements of Intel's strategy for providing small businesses with cost-effective networking solutions to help them share office resources and Internet access. These products will help small businesses to enhance the performance and manageability of today's PCs.

The acquisition is subject to Dayna shareholder approval and other conditions, with an expected closing by the end of November 1997. Dayna will then become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intel and will continue to operate in Salt Lake City as part of Intel's Network Products Division. Dayna's employees will continue employment in Salt Lake City.

"Small businesses are discovering how high-speed networking can significantly aid productivity and the bottomline," said Frank Gill, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Internet and Communications Group. "With the addition of Dayna's products and staff, Intel can better help these customers take advantage of connecting PCs to the Internet using Fast Ethernet technology."

Innovators in Small Business Networking
Dayna offers award-winning, powerful, easy-to-use networking, communications and Internet connectivity solutions for small businesses and education sites. The company's family of 100 megabit-per second (Mbps) Fast Ethernet products are specifically designed to help small businesses recognize productivity improvements and cost savings. Dayna manufactures adapters, switches, hubs, Internet connectivity products and other networking products. Initially, Dayna's current product line will continue to be sold under its existing brand. Intel plans to introduce new products for small businesses in the first half of 1998 under the Intel brand. These new products will increase the volume and range of products, services and support delivered through value-added resellers to small businesses.

"Small businesses need vendors providing cost-effective products and services that are designed specifically for them," said Brad Romney, Dayna's president and CEO. "We look forward to joining Intel and working together to design unique products, services and support programs to help small businesses take full advantage of networked PCs."
