Autodesk* Maya* 8.5 Mental Ray* render and SPECapc* for 3DS Max* 9.0—graphics and hardware shader.

Autodesk* Maya* 8.5 Mental Ray* render runs at background on number_ of_ processor minus one processor. It renders an ASCII scene without graphics in the background while SPECapc* for 3DS Max* 9.0—graphics and hardware shader runs on one logical processor in the foreground. Time (seconds) elapsed is reported when workloads are finished. Elapsed time is then converted to jobs/day as the final score.

Benchmark description

SPECapc* 3ds Max* 9 from Autodesk* is an application-based benchmarking tool used to measure overall workstation performance with two metrics: interactive—combining graphics subsystem plus I/O performance, and rendering—measuring the CPU performance. See www.spec.org for more information.

Benchmark description

SPECapc* for Maya* 6.5 has four models—a werewolf, human hand, insect and squid—rendered and displayed in five different modes used in Maya 6.5: wireframe, Gouraud-shaded, texture, texture highlighted with a wireframe mesh, and texture selected (texture with wireframe mesh and control points). The benchmark is unique in its ability to test performance for large texture sizes and multiple viewports. Please see www.spec.org for more information on the workloads.

Benchmark description

SPECviewperf* 10 measures the 3D rendering performance of systems running under OpenGL*. It measures performance for the following entities: 3D primitives, including points, lines, line_strip, line_loop, triangles, triangle_strip, triangle_fan, quads and polygons; attributes per vertex, per primitive and per frame; lighting; texture mapping; alpha blending; fogging; anti-aliasing; and depth buffering. For more information about the benchmark and its run rules refer www.spec.org.
