Overview

The Intel® Wireless UWB Link 1480 Media Access Controller (MAC) is based on the WiMedia MAC v1.0 standard. It enables Wireless USB and IP applications over UWB by implementing Certified Wireless USB and WiNet protocols. This product is firmware upgradeable providing flexibility in equipment design, deployment and applications.

The Intel® Wireless UWB Link 1480 MAC connects to any WiMedia PHY v1.1 compliant UWB Transceiver through a MAC-PHY Interface (MPI). The UWB solution connects to a mobile or desktop platform through the ubiquitous USB 2.0 port thereby providing an easy upgrade path from wired to wireless for end users.

When combined with 3rd party UWB Transceivers, it enables PC manufacturers and independent hardware vendors to deliver wireless, high-bandwidth, low-power solutions that provide wireless personal area connectivity in the digital home and digital office. Intel® Wireless UWB Link 1480 MAC based form-factor solutions are available through third-party ODMs.
