Things to consider

Processor

The processor is at the heart of your computing experience, and the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor provides great battery life and excellent performance.

Battery

Finding a system with the right battery life is essential. Look for a minimum of four hours' battery life, more if you spend all day unplugged in class.

Weight

Less weight can potentially mean fewer features or more money. Five pounds or less is pretty easy to carry around campus. If you're planning on keeping it at home or in your dorm, you can look for a more full-featured laptop that acts as a desktop replacement.

Memory

Having enough memory is important for running multiple applications. The minimum should be 2 GB; three to four is better if you can afford it.
