Things to consider

Processor

The more powerful your processor, the smoother the experience, especially when it comes to games, video and music. The Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor is incredible for laptops; look for the Intel® Core™ i7 processor in desktops.

Hard Drive

Few things fill up your hard drive as fast as movies, music and photography. Look for a laptop with a minimum of 160 GB; Look for 500 GB or more in a desktop.

Screen Size

How big you want your screen to be is a balance between portability and visual impact. A minimum 17-inch laptop screen is perfect for digital media fans.

Memory

Memory is important if you're working with large files like photos. The minimum should be 2 GB, while three to four is much better.
