Intel’s presence in Vietnam encompasses a sales and marketing office and an assembly test facility that is under construction.
Sales and Marketing Intel Semiconductor Ltd., the sales and marketing office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, provides world-class sales and support at the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), developer and end-user levels.
The primary responsibilities for Intel's sales and marketing team in Vietnam include:
- Delivering innovative products to consumer and OEM markets
- Driving Intel's initiatives, technologies, products and services into the marketplace
- Creating demand for Intel's products
- Driving the market to recognize Intel's role in the Internet at the OEM, developer, and end-user levels
Assembly Test Facility Vietnam’s Ministry of Investment and Planning awarded Intel an investment license to build a $300 million (US) assembly test facility plant to produce chips and computer parts. As the first major foreign investor in high technology in Vietnam, the new factory supports Intel’s digital ASEAN (d-ASEAN) program, in which the company works to develop a stronger digital workforce, integrate technology into education and government, and make technology more accessible for business and consumers within Southeast Asia.
Scheduled to be the largest computer equipment and manufacturing plaint in Vietnam, Intel’s new factory is part of our worldwide strategy to expand production capacity. A critical and technical phase in production, the assembly/ test (A/T) process occurs before Intel’s delivers silicon products to customers and includes three primary responsibilities:
- Separate the individual chips (or die) that come from semiconductor fabrication plants, known as "fabs”, into protective packages that provide the connection between the die and other devices
- Perform stress testing and check for electrostatic discharge levels to ensure the highest quality
- Categorize and perform a final outgoing inspection before the units are sent to customers
