The Site
 
Located in North Raleigh, and a few miles from the Raleigh/Durham International Airport, Intel Raleigh is home to a design center primarily focusing on communications products such as Voiceband and DSL modems, and optical networking devices. Part of Research Triangle Park — a famous research area encompassing Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill — Intel Raleigh is home to a few key Intel groups, including Residential Access Division, Optical Components Division and Edge Access Division. Innovations designed and developed by these groups include high-performance modems for residential use and chip designs for optical and other devices and solutions. Intel Raleigh offers careers in the following areas: Integrated Circuit Engineering, Hardware Engineering and Software Engineering.
 
The Vicinity
 
Established as the state capital of North Carolina in 1792, Raleigh is one of the oldest cities in the United States. Named after Sir Walter Raleigh, who sponsored the first English colony to settle in the New World two centuries ago, Raleigh is now one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. The area, including nearby Durham and Chapel Hill, offers excellent outdoor activities, with extensive walking and running trails available throughout the area in the many state parks, forests and recreation areas. Golf and boating or other water sports can be found at Jordan Lake and Kerr Lake.

The area also provides families and individuals with many cultural opportunities and events, including several art galleries, museums, a symphony and other family activities. The area is quickly becoming well known for its impressive array of fine restaurants. The Triangle area is home to many premier colleges and universities, including Raleigh's North Carolina State University, Shaw University, Peace College and Meredith College, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Duke University in Durham, Wake Forest and North Carolina Central University.
