The Vicinity
 
Located within close proximity to Napa Valley, San Francisco and Lake Tahoe, the Folsom/Sacramento area is known for a culture rich in music and the arts. Approximately 15 miles outside of Sacramento, the surrounding area showcases some of the most diverse tastes and formats known in music today, including a growing arts movement featuring local and regional artists of national renown, and the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra. Sacramento also hosts one of the largest jazz festivals in the United States.

The Folsom/Sacramento area boasts many cultural hot spots, including a community theater, several shopping malls, the world's largest auto mall, the Discovery Museum* and the historic California Railroad Museum. Nearby is Coloma, the site of the first gold discovery in California. The Folsom/Sacramento area is also home to the California State Capitol.

The greater Sacramento area offers many outstanding educational institutions, a wealth of student-oriented community colleges and private technical colleges, and the University of California at Davis and California State University, Sacramento. The area's communities offer youth, parents and families unique sports, recreation, education and social opportunities. The area can also offer residents relatively affordable housing.

Folsom also has several popular outdoor activities, including water sports at Folsom Lake, or biking and running along the 30+ mile American River Parkway Trail. The region offers over 50 golf courses, including several PGA-level courses. Just a short drive away, Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range are central to premier skiing and recreational activities. Also close by is the world-renowned Napa Valley, famous for its wineries. San Francisco and the Bay Area are about an hour's drive from Folsom, and offer many art, tourist and recreational opportunities. These major metropolitan areas are home to several professional sports teams, unique cultural events and activities, and some of the best shopping, dining and nightlife in the United States.
